His creativity has earned him many awards, and is packed with references to traditional Czech glassmaking but adopting a renewed, innovative take, with works that push the technical and artistic boundaries further and further back.
In 2022, he crafted the Underwater vase-object collection for Ajeto Glass Studio. The meeting of architect and artist Bořek Šípek and master glassmaker Petr Novotný yielded the idea of opening the Ajeto Glass Studio works in Lindava. They set up the premises in the early Nineties, and opened to the public during the IGS – International Glass Symposium, an event held every three years which draws designers, architects and glassmakers of international standing. The large, evocative glassmaking complex located in Nový Bor has gone on to become a lively, much-frequented place in which courses and demonstrations of the various kinds of glassmaking techniques are held along with workshops, guided tours and artistic and cultural events. The Glassmaker’s Tavern also offers visitors the chance to dine with the very finest Czech cuisine.
