Founded in 2007 by Draga Obradovic and Aurel K. Basedow, Draga & Aurel is a multidisciplinary studio and laboratory for art, collectible design and furnishings. With extensive backgrounds in art, fashion and craftsmanship, Draga and Aurel are widely known for combining original techniques with an artistic approach to materials and composition. Pioneering upcycling in the design industry, they began by reinventing vintage furniture and objects in their own style, shaping their first collections. Their debut at Milan Design Week in 2009 marked the beginning of groundbreaking collaborations with furniture companies. In 2019, the duo presented their Transparency Matters range, exploring the use and potential of transparency, particularly in relation to light and colour. Gaining increasing renown, the studio has continued to develop the collection, which blends art and design. Transparency Matters pieces are showcased in leading galleries such as Rossana Orlandi, Nilufar and Todd Merrill Studio.

Vetroricerca is a glassmaking studio founded in Bolzano in 1996 by Alessandro Cuccato and a group of young artisans sharing a deep passion for glass. In its early years, while the focus was on training, the studio began to explore cutting-edge experimentation with forms and techniques, collaborating with established designers and always striving for state-of-the-art excellence at the highest international level. Over time, Vetroricerca has become increasingly involved in the production of public artwork and pieces commissioned by artists ‒ an area of work that has since become pivotal, positioning the studio as a reference point in Italy and across Europe. Alessandro Cuccato and Alessandra Piazza are the pillars of Vetroricerca: united by a 30-year partnership, they move seamlessly between avant-garde and tradition. The emphasis on teaching remains central to the studio’s activities, particularly through an ongoing collaboration with the Faculty of Design and Art at the Libera Università di Bolzano.
