Two names of absolute excellence work in synergy for this fascinating project. Patricia Urquiola, the legendary Spanish designer who has been living and working in Milan for many years, is one of the most important and established names on the international scene. Architect and designer, she trained with historic design names first at the Universidad Politécnica in Madrid and then at the Politecnico in Milan, graduating with Achille Castiglioni. She worked with Vico Magistretti, and at Lissoni Associati as design director. She was awarded the Gold Medal of the Arts and the Cross of the Order of Isabel the Catholic by the King of Spain, Juan Carlos I. Her works, characterised by great rigour and creative inspiration, are exhibited in the most prestigious museums in the world, including the MoMA in New York, the Musée des arts decoratifs in Paris, the V&A in London, the Vitra in Basel, the Design Museum in Monaco and the Milan Triennale. 

She has worked on numerous successful projects for major design companies and is today the art director of Cassina. “I have always admired Bottega Ghianda,” she says: “Its production has always represented absolute mastery in cabinetmaking. I was happy and honoured by the invitation to work with this excellent workshop.” Bottega Ghianda, a legendary name and the figurehead of the region of Brianza, represents high-end artisanal woodworking. Now taken over by Promemoria, thanks to the vision and sensitivity of Romeo Sozzi, and under the artistic direction of Michele De Lucchi, it continues to develop incomparable products that are acknowledged for their excellent craftsmanship, elegance and perfection.
