Dispositivo armonico: Aquiloni della pace
The kite is a symbol of peace and harmony. It requires care and attention to make it fly: one must learn to read the wind, listen to it and wait for just the right moment. This is how these harmonic devices come into being: slowly, as a practice of gentleness and attentive listening. It is a delicate game in which time and care become essential to flight: you wait for the wind, welcome it, and surrender to the gust while holding the thread firmly in your hands.
The mandala-like motifs, painted with carefully built layers of colour and material, capture the eye and invite concentration. They evoke a form of silent meditation, a deep awareness. Like a blossom opening, the centre becomes the point towards which everything moves: the centre of ourselves, of thought, of love.
“What particularly interests me in the work of Fabscarte is their exploration of colour and their desire to give a three-dimensional presence to paper as a material. Working with your hands means accepting a beauty that is never exactly the same: you can sense the hands, the shifts of the brush, the subtle variations in every layer of colour. Each kite carries the traces of the gesture that brought it into being. It is precisely this sense of uniqueness that I experienced and learned from throughout this collaboration.” (Sara Ricciardi)
“We were struck by how Sara starts from matter and gesture. Her work shows great sensitivity to surface and time. There is attention to detail, but also a clear vision of the whole. This approach is very close to our way of understanding craftsmanship. The project impressed us for the balance it strikes between the clarity of the initial vision and the freedom of expression granted to the craftsman. Not mere implementation, but a creative dialogue in which know-how became an active part of the process. Working with matter, gesture and tactile surfaces made us feel fully involved, bringing experience, sensitivity and intuition into play.” (Fabscarte)
