Illusia

Born out of fire and the magic of the glassblowing process, these pieces have been designed to capture the fluidity and ethereal nature of molten glass. The fluidly rippling form and slightly faded colours conjure up a sense of movement and lightness. The pieces almost seem to float in the air. The unique final form is created by heating the material just beyond the point at which it begins to collapse. These artworks are an exploration of what happens when we are pushed out of our comfort zone. They show us how much beauty can be found on the edge of error and failure. It is a continual experimentation, always on the verge of disaster, taking their own capacities and the nature of the material itself to the limit.
