Sinbad

The work belongs to the ‘Mythology’ series of 13 Jacquard woven tapestries, based on the myths of cultures from all over the world. From the legends of ancient Greece and African folktales to the fables of the indigenous peoples of Taiwan, the artist interprets the story through weaving, using pattern and motif. The result is a series of works of contemporary textile art that incorporate traditions and handicraft. Like fractals, the stories have endless repetitive schemes. Myths and fables have been told over and over again for thousands of years and will be repeated ad infinitum: different cultures all have their own archetypes in the form of folktales.
